1980’s Television Shows
My 6 yr old child sat down last evening to watch her half an hour of tv and I was amazed at what she opted for. I instantly found myself, sitting down next to her, watching Gummi Bears. Adventures of the Gummi Bears used to be one of my personal favorite 1980s Television shows. Back in the 1980s, it was very popular and I can remember looking at the tv in absolute awe at several shows that have found their way back to the lives of our children. Suddenly, The Smurfs are famous just as before. I find myself instantly remembering each of the names of the Smurfs as well as the human characters that were introduced into their world. I would have never guessed that I would be looking at them once again. Who would have believed that most of the cartoon 80s Tv shows would be for sale on DVD in the year 2010? Wandering the aisles of our local toy shop this last holidays, I was quickly noticing Smurf figurines plus some stuffed Alf toys.
Out of nowhere, a few of our favorite 1980s Tv shows shot in green screen backgrounds are now being made into movies. The cartoon, Transformers, which in fact had been incredibly loved way back in my years as a child has been produced into a big box office hit recently. Miami Vice was produced into a film. 2 of the most popular and greatly adored characters from 1980s Television shows were the popular Crockett and Tubbs. Everyone knew who they were and loved them. The cartoon, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, was made into a number of different films.
People who were raised in the eighties and looked forward to our cartoons or even our sitcoms remember how ‘clean’ they formerly were. Households could sit down and watch Tv with each other. There wasn’t a fear of a couple of bad phrases or inappropriate innuendos slipping into the context. Our 1980s Tv shows were something we remember as making us feel great when viewing them. Recall how excited we would feel when we watched the A-Team get free from a mess they had gotten themselves into? We felt the pain of teenage life when viewing the Wonder Years. Who could possibly ever forget about how much we related to Kevin when he got dissed by Winnie Cooper?
Have writers all of a sudden cannot think of ideas for cartoons, movies and Tv shows? I don’t think so. I would like to think that they’re from my generation and have matured watching the same incredible shows that I did. Possibly those 80s Television shows still stay in their minds and perhaps they are reminded of the ‘feel good’ vibes that they had experienced while viewing them. While it might not be possible to get away with all the exact same versions that previously reigned on the channels, you’ll be able to see them develop and make a brand new ‘feel good’ vibe for today’s generation.
There are several 1980s Television shows filmed in green screen that I, personally, want to see revived. Why not make an A-Team motion picture? Knight Rider may not have been successful as a TV sitcom, but that does not imply that the rest would flunk. What i’m saying is, come on - it’s the 80s we’re talking about! People like their 1980s music; let’s get a number of the Television shows back too!
