To be honest, a part of it is true. But there are disadvantages, too.

First of all, what are the advantages? There are no monthly bills like the cable bills. Now, that reason alone should be enough for you to check out an FTA hd receiver. We all spend an enormous amount of money on cable. And the service is lousy sometimes.

And what are the downsides? Of course you will have to pay money for all the equipment. Therefore you have to make an investment before you can actually save money. You could think of Free to air equipment as an investment. First you pay a lot of money so that you don’t have to pay monthly bills.

Make sure to chose your tech carefully or you will spend too much money and not save as much as you could have. It’s easy to get an expansive product that looks better than the rest.

My opinion is that you should make a list of features and then choose the best fta hd receiver that has all the features. Don’t just buy the product with the most features. Chances are you will never ever need them. And you will not be satisfied once you find a product that has even more features.

Another downside is, that you can’t watch all the programs. Some programs are even exclusive to cable tv. If you have programs that you want to watch I urge you to check if they are available for Free to Air before you make the change.

If you have a computer you can also watch FTA while working on your PC. I know of many people that they like to watch a show while surfing on the internet or writing an email.
