Day of the Outlaw: Stark Western melodrama of outlaw Ives and clique taking over secluded Western town. Cast includes Robert Ryan, Burl Ives, Tina Louise, Alan Marshal, Nehemiah Persoff, and Elisha Chef. (91 minutes, 1959)

Kill or Be Killed: Karate champions lock limbs as ex-Nazi tutor desires reprisal contrary to Japanese counterpart who bested him in a contest throughout WW2. This is a cut above the typical martial crafts fodder. Cast includes James Ryan, Norman Combes, Charlotte Michelle, and Danie DuPlessis. (90 minutes, 1980)

Alice’s Restaurant: Guthrie’s trendy record empowered this abnormal mix of satire, whimsy, melodrama, and communal comments. Cast includes Arlo Guthrie, Pat Quinn, James Broderick, Michael McClanathan, Geoff Outlaw, and Tina Chen. (111 minutes, 1969)

Forrest Gump: Sitting on a park bench waiting for the bus, Forrest Gump recounts the events of his life to total strangers. We learn of all the incredible adventures this simple man has experienced that have eventually returned him to this bus stop back, and soon to his lifelong love, Jenny. Tom Hanks stars as Forrest Gump.

Plenty: Reproduction on screen of David Hare’s play regarding a British female who (like Britain itself) experiences her finest hours throughout WW2, performing for the underground, and on no account finds contentment or delight the remainder of her life. Excellent acting, and minutes of insight and humor could’t conquer the boring personality of Streep’s character. Schepisi makes phenomenal use of widescreen. Cast includes Meryl Streep, Charles Dance, Tracey Ullman, John Gielgud, Sting, Ian McKellen, Sam Neill, and Burt Kwouk. (124 minutes, 1985)

Cheyenne Autumn: Spreading, choppy, although amusing John Ford Western, his last in regards to Cheyenne Indian tribe and its eventful voyage back to primordial settlement after being resettled by the government. This is Controller Ford’s first film in Remembrance Valley. Avoid City pattern with Stewart as Wyatt Earp was cut after exclusive involvements. Cast includes John Ford, Richard Widmark, Carroll Baker, Karl Malden, Dolores Del Rio, Sal Mineo, Edward G. Robinson, James Stewart, Ricardo Montalban, Gilbert Roland, Arthur Kennedy, Patrick Wayne, Elizabeth Allen, Champ Jory, John Carradine, Mike Mazurki, and George O’Brien. (145 minutes, 1964)
