Occasionally you will hear some comments about how television is dead because most people these days spend most of their time on the internet. At the end of the day, with so many possibilities on the web, who really needs television? These days you can watch a lot of programmes online from all around the world and you are not attached to any type of schedule. There are even a number of shows which can only be watched online which is quite exciting. And internet shows are inexpensive to make, meaning that they can be made by almost anyone. Not only can we watch great shows we can create them and even star in them - this is the really fantastic thing about the world online.

But to think that television might be on the way out might be a little bit premature. Those in the television industry however, have not been sitting on their laurels waiting for the internet to push television off its pedestal; instead they have been making their own developments so that we have even more choice. People are not going to move away from television while we can access High Definition television and boxes with hundreds of channels. Even those who spend a lot of time surfing the web will at least have the TV on in the background. There are also those people who have no interest in spending their time online for long and much prefer their television. For the moment anyway, we can relax because television is not going anywhere but who knows what might happen in ten or twenty years. It is actually more likely that the world of television and online shows will probably become closer than ever. Things like Google TV will likely mean that in the future watching TV will be a far more interactive experience.
