Very Best Horror Films 2006
The year 2006 was really a banner year and the top horror films of 2006 list of horror movies, of which some used green screen backgrounds in green screen studios, that I provide here will be a bit controversial, however, these lists often are. The main reason no one can agree on these lists is the fact that while a few people consider all slasher motion pictures to be scary, some only think that supernatural elements make up the horror genre. We all can’t be that picky so we will review them all in the following summation lest we offend any sensitivities out there.
“Feast” directed by John Gulager was actually released in the year 2005 but didn’t hit the movie theaters right up until 2006. Presenting the normal zombies run amok plot, it goes off track easily and remains pretty hard to bear. Incredibly gory and terrifying and unquestionably a must see. Very few great horror films have been made from amazing horror books but the best of the ton are “The Exorcist” (original book by William Peter Blatty), “Carrie” (Stephen King), and “The Shining” (King once again).
6 girls get stuck inside an underground cave labyrinth while spelunking and are chased by albino earth-dwelling creatures in this extremely frightening movie directed by Neil Marshall. The best thing about this motion picture is that they develop the story plot and characters carefully to make sure that we as as viewers get very involved with each person. We care about what happens to all of them and thus the frightening parts are even more frightening.
“Hostel” is also in my best terror films of 2006 list though it doesn’t have a supernatural element into it as it’s greatly terrifying at times and always disturbing. A team of backpackers heading to Europe get attracted into a hostel that has lovely ladies running around in skimpy clothes. They get kidnapped and placed as victims into a “torture club” for wealthy sickos. Absolutely not for the kids.
Another of the top horror motion pictures of 2006 is “Turistas” which a number of people disliked but I loved, considering I’ve spent a lot of time in the jungles of Central America and can relate to the subject matter. Travelers getting robbed and set upon by the locals always makes for fantastic suspense motion picture. Not necessarily common “horror” but scary enough as a suspense flick. Just what make up “horror” anyway? Does anyone truly get mortified anymore? Essentially the most these types of films will do to normal jaded people is a shock once in a while which makes all of them jump out of their seats.
The very last motion picture that was absolutely horrible was “The Exorcist” that remained with you long after you left the movie theater. That feeling of dread that made you scared to sleep alone at night does not arrive frequently. One more movie which frightened me like that was “The Blair Witch Project” yet I do know lots of people disliked it and even got ill watching the moving camera shots. “Paranormal Activity” was similar to Blair Witch, with lots of handheld camera parts though not quite as many as in Blair Witch or Cloverfield.
Grab the popcorn and gummy bears. Time for you to get fearful!
