The ways in which we do things has changed completely because of the internet. It has also led to the creation of many new ethical dilemmas. One of these dilemmas is the way in which online media has had an affect on copyrighted material. There are many people who would say that a lot of the material available on the internet should not really be there because it infringes copyright laws. All the latest movies are not only available for download, but they can be watched online for free too. Although there is not much risk involved in watching things online, there may be some people who just feel that it is not right. A lot of people will end up feeling very confused about this grey area because there are so many different opinions out there.

 

For some people it is a type of criminal act to watch free movies online. They feel that by watching these films, we are stealing from the investors who have spent millions on producing these movies. There are others who feel that all this free material that is available online is actually killing the movie industry because investors are not as willing to put their money into it anymore because of the risk involved. It is often the opinion of these people that there should be harsh punishments handed out for those who provide this material and for anyone who watches it.

 

But saying that you are stealing if you watch copyrighted material doesn’t make a lot of sense. If that was the case then lending somebody a book would be in the same category. We are not stealing anything when we watch movies online because there are the same amount of movies in circulation as there were before we started watching movies online. It is also an exaggeration to say that such action is killing the movie industry. There are still rubbish movies getting released on a weekly basis so it is plain to see that there is plenty of money to be made. These people just have to accept that the world has changed and that they should not be so greedy.

 

We are lucky to be able to enjoy such a number of things thanks to the creation of the world-wide-web. We are able to do things such as shopping, sending email messages, looking for and finding information - and so much more besides. And one of the better things of all time to do though is being able to free movies online.
